Choosing Keywords to Promote

The first thing you must have when starting an affiliate marketing campaign is a product or service to promote. This is the ‘research’ phase of our overall strategy that will be the foundation for the entire process. This is also the most important aspect of internet marketing. The three things we need to do to get started are:

1. Choose a general niche, then drill down within that niche to find something less competitive

2. Select a product that you can sell to people (something that fixes a problem is the best)

3. Research keywords for the product

4. Check out the competition for those keywords and see what others are doing

You can choose anything but the best method is to pick a subject that you are familiar with and have a general passion for. This is often the best way for a novice internet marketer to get started because there will be less research involved and you already know about the topic.
