How to Make Money on the Web? Write What You Know!

Many people get hung up and don’t know where to begin when getting started with Affiliate marketing. The best place to start is with a topic that you are an expert at or have a great desire to learn more. Why? You will be creating a topical niche website that displays your expert knowledge in the form of unique articles that the search engines will eat up and have visitors knocking at your door and ready to buy from your links or even buy your own product.

In a nutshell…here is a simple formula to conquer niche marketing:

1. Choose a topic that you are an expert in or can learn very quickly (Preferably a topic that will solve a problem. HINT: Hot niches include weight loss, finance, how to make money. Add ‘how to’ in front of anything and you can solve a problem).
2. Research a few main keywords for the theme of your site that get enough traffic to make it worth your while
3. Find an exact match domain for the main keyword you decide on
4. Check affiliate offers and determine how to monetize the site. Consider creating your own info product to sell. Also setup a newsletter or free report to capture emails that you can sell to later
5. Build the site with either WordPress or a simple HTML template. WordPress has many advantages but takes up more web hosting resources.
6. Create a policy page and contact page with a form. Also make sure to add a disclaimer that you are an affiliate and get a commission per new FTC rules
7. Write 5-10 related niche articles for your topic that focus on more popular keywords or products. You can do reviews and link to specific products from each page
8. Get backlinks to both the main page for your main keyword and the subpages you have created. Diversity of backlinks including article marketing, social bookmarking, video marketing, blog commenting (don’t spam), related forum signature links, link exchanges (yes they do work), directory submissions, press releases, and any other relevant backlinks you can obtain.
9. Consider adding new content over time to keep your site fresh and people coming back. Over time your site will be viewed as expert material by the search engines and should rank nicely.
