Using Exact Match Domains for SEO
When looking for the perfect domain name you should always pursue exact match domains! What is an exact match domain?
If your keyword is ‘red sweaters’ then an exact match domain that we want to buy would be redsweaters.com, redsweaters.net, or redsweaters.org. Domains with dashes can sometimes work as well but exact matches are much easier to rank with. If you find yourself in a competitive market and have found a keyword with a large search volume and high CPC values then it might be worth a try with a dashed domain. Using the example above, this would be something like red-sweaters.com. We have not had as much success using dashed domains but again it might be worth a shot…you just may need more backlinks to push it up to the first page.
